Music fans of a certain age will take one look at McFly and want to give them a good slap. But don't be fooled by the spiky haircuts and low-slung trousers - these cheeky chappies are actually about as rebellious as a pint of semi-skimmed milk. Their boyband-with-guitars schtick clearly aims to capture the sound of the early Beatles but ends up closer to the squeaky-clean Monkees, or even their good friends Busted. According to their songs, they admire girls from a distance, sometimes hang around pizza parlours hoping to talk to them, but never do anything that even a maiden aunt could find offensive. Room on the Thirrd Floor is bright, breezy and tries very hard to please. Sometimes it succeeds. But the future of rock 'n' roll it ain't.
