Little Barrie are one of those groups so in love with the past, it's hard to work out if they've got any personality of their own. In this case, the records that Barrie Cadogan and his Nottingham bandmates have clearly overdosed on are the blues-rock classics of the late 60s such as Traffic, Free and above all, Jimi Hendrix. It would be wrong to deny that they've done an uncanny job of recreating that sound, complete with swampy guitars, churning rock riffs and psychedelic sound effects. The only problem is, it all seems a bit pointless - a feeling that's underlined by Cadogan's monotonous stoner vocals and lyrics that seem to be about nothing in particular. The past can certainly be a wonderful place to visit. But why do such obviously talented musicians as Little Barrie want to live there?
