Kelly Osbourne is routinely depicted as a spoilt brat with precious little talent, who probably wouldn't even have a record deal if it wasn't for her dad. As her spirited second album shows, however, this is more than a little unfair. A huge leap forward from her debut, Sleeping in the Nothing is a classy collection of brattish electro-pop that should appeal to anyone who likes Madonna's early records. Much of the credit should presumably go to producer Linda Perry, who's previously worked with Pink and Gwen Stefani. Kelly's anguished lyrics may not be exactly poetry, but they're certainly heartfelt and convey some of the pain caused by her recent stint in rehab. If she can keep on the straight and narrow from now on, then this unlikeliset of pop princesses may have the last laugh after all. Let's hope so.
