The JJ's promised much on their debut or, at the very least, it seemed that they were destined to create bigger and better music. Their second album shows that they live up to this reputation though they still have yet to write their best song and/or album yet (no bad thing really). I To Sky sees JJ songwriter Mark Greaney wearing his Smashing Pumpkins, U2 and Joy Division influences on his sleeve but not in an Oasis rip-off kind of way. There's more of a mixing and distilling of the music of the aforementioned masters into a new and more modern version with a certain JJ twist. This follow-up isn't entirely perfect. Greaney's cherubic vocals are most definitely an acquired taste and a few of I To Sky's moments become a little pretentious with their religious imagery. However, none of this takes away from what is a superb sophomore album
