The marketing men must have groaned when they heard about this one - a solo album from the Super Furry Animals frontman, sung entirely in Welsh, with a title that doesn't even translate into English. Still, while Gruff Rhys is never going to cause Westlife any sleepless nights, his earnestly mellifluous songs are not without a certain charm. The mix here is much the same as a regular SFA album - sunny pop blended with stoned psychedelia - but with a much more lo-fi production that betrays the record's rushed origins (it was recorded in just a week). A couple of ill-advised experiments, meanwhile, such as an extended hippie mantra, will have most listeners reaching for the skip button. Gruff has always had a knack for turning out beautiful, nursery-rhyme melodies and there's a few here that will keep hardcore fans happy. Everyone else should wait until he teams up with his old mates again.
