Back in 1999 producer duo Groove Armada gave the discredited genre of chillout a welcome shot in the arm with their masterly album Vertigo. While their eagerly awaited follow-up doesn't quite reach the same heights, it's still a reasonably effective collection of ambient soundscapes that'll appeal to the more discerning kind of clubber. Tom Findlay and Andy Cato certainly endeavour to make dance music with style and depth but occasionally they overreach themselves; the album is top-heavy with acoustic guitars and soul vocals and the relentless prog-rock noodlings get a bit characterless at times. Still, judged as a record that's meant to be listened to while lying horizontally, it does the job fairly well.
