Say what you like about Geri Halliwell, the girl's a tryer. As an ex-Spice Girl she hardly needs to work again, but somehow between all the fitness videos and self-help books, she's found the time to make her first album in four years. Passion is no masterpiece, and it may not set the charts alight, but as a lightweight, summery pop record it does the job pretty well. There's a few Kylie-style disco tracks, the odd Dido-esque ballad and even some big-band jazz tunes that stretch her sugar-coated vocals to the limit. The production is as slick as you'd expect and Geri certainly sounds as if she's enjoying herself. But if that rumoured Spice Girls reunion ever comes about, you get the feeling she'll probably be first in the queue.
