If Gemma Hayes' live performances are 'intensely intimate' then this first EP release from the Tipperary born singer/songwriter is very much so with five carefully crafted, mostly acoustic songs that still feel as if they were recorded right at home. On 'Evening Sun' when Hayes sings, 'Why don't you stay just a little longer please', you can almost feel her whispering those words right into your ear. The title song has the kind of lyrics that easily transport the listener to that time in the morning just before the sun is up and the streets are virtually empty. The last track 'Piano Song' gives us a simple, slow piano solo that, by the end, has the listener asking for more. Hayes will certainly be one to watch.
