Dido is yet another British artist who means nothing this side of the Atlantic but has struck a real chord in the US where her debut album has already gone platinum. Many of the songs here are co-written by her brother Rollo, the singer with Faithless, and you can see that band's influence in Dido's pop-dance electronica and her lush, lazy arrangements. Her other great asset is a cool sensuous voice which hints at just the right level of vulnerability. The album as a whole is a melodic, highly enjoyable listen, even if it ultimately lacks a little bite.
