Typical - you wait four years for a new De La Soul album, then three come in rapid succession. No point in complaining though, as this first instalment of a projected trilogy from the veteran rappers is as sharp and ambitious as you could wish for. It's got big name guests (Busta Rhymes, Chaka Khan) and there's a welcome soulful quality to these humourous morality tales. The rhyming throughout is funky, daring and breathtakingly fluent. Forget the pretenders to the throne, this is hip-hop at its best.
