David Bowie - Bowie at the Beeb
Review Date: 11 October 2000
Not only does this collection of archive recordings have immense historical value, it's also as good an overview of David Bowie's greatest work as you could hope to find. Spread out over two CDs, these intimate radio sessions document his origins as an ersatz Cockney mod and take us through to the mid-70s when he was turning out a string of classic recordings under the guises of Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane. Hardcore fans will need the limited edition which includes an extra BBC concert recorded earlier this year. Handsomely packaged, this is a real gem of an album which proves yet again that Bowie is one of pop's greatest survivors.
