If there's ever a Louis Walsh's History of Irish Pop Volume 2, it's highly unlikely that Cyclefly will be on it. This awkward litter of goth-metallers from Cork aren't interested in being cute and cuddly, you see - their particular brand of angst-ridden rock is unapologetically angry and it's aimed squarely at the Linkin Park generation. As if to prove the point Chester Bennington himself pops up on 'Karma Killer', one of Crave's many dark and twisted highlights. Cyclefly can stand on their own two feet, however - their second album is packed with monster riffs and killer choruses, all of which suggests that the band are finally beginning to deliver on their early promise. Best of all, in pink-haired Declan O'Shea they have a frontman who's tailor-made for the role of Irish pop's anti-Ronan Keating. The very best of luck to them.
