Coldplay - Parachutes
Review Date: 11 July 2000
Do we really need another drab-looking British guitar band with a frontman who sings vaguely like Thom Yorke of Radiohead? On the evidence of Coldplay's debut album, not really. Songs such as the recent singles 'Shiver' and 'Yellow' are gentle, devotional laments which sound perfectly pleasant but are too mild to summon up any real emotion. Despite the hype, nothing to get too worked up about.
