Blur were unquestionably one of the greatest English band of the nineties; not only did they have a musical versatility which rivaled the Beatles, their conceptual art-pop always had a sense of occasion which made it feel culturally important. But be warned: as an introduction to their work this compilation has some serious flaws. It's made up almost entirely of singles, meaning that much of their most ambitious and experimental work is bypassed. Furthermore, the unchronological running order signally fails to illustrate the band's development over the years. But the music itself? Quite brilliant.
