Blag
Review Date: 16 December 2005
Blag describe themselves modestly as a no-frills rock band. That's true as far as it goes, but there's nothing wrong with no-frills rock - particularly when it's carried off with such aplomb as this Dublin three-piece. Their grunge meets New Wave sound doesn't fit easily into any one category, but think Foo Fighters with a dash of early Black Sabbath and you're not a million miles away. This excellent EP contains four tracks, and while each is interesting in its own right, the highlight is definitely '13 Conditions' - a catchy rebuke to a demanding partner that'll have many listeners shuddering in recognition. Definitely a band to keep a close eye on in 2006. Check out www.welcometoblag.com for more details.
