The 'wacky' name gives the game away - these five rather nerdish-looking young men began life as a warm-up act for a comedy troupe in their native Canada. Unlikely superstars you might think, but in fact they're hugely popular back home thanks to their geeky number one hit 'One Week'. Maroon is less quirky than previous outings, eschewing the ridiculous rapping and cheeky puns to leave a collection of stripped-down R'n'B songs recorded in a light, singalong style. It's likeable enough in small doses but you get the feeling that it would be a lot more fun live; on record the Ladies too often come across as a transatlantic, watered-down version of Madness.
