Ash - Free All Angels

 rated 4

Review Date: 18 April 2001

After the relatively disappointing Nu-Clear Sounds, Ash has gone back to their punk roots - and the result is their best album to date. A dazzling combination of power-pop and elegant ballads, Free All Angels is filled with potential hit singles and is a glorious reminder of why the Downpatrick youngsters seemed so special in the first place. They may not be teenagers any more but their songs are still touched with an endearing naivety and their carefree exuberance is as infectious as ever. Look no further for the sound of the summer.
