Aimee Mann - Bachelor No. 2

 rated 4

Review Date: 09 April 2001

For reasons best known to themselves Aimee Mann's old record label refused to release her third solo album, forcing the Grammy and Oscar-nominated singer-songwriter to buy up the tapes and put it out on the internet. Now in the shops, it's an impressive collection of intelligent adult pop, some of which has already been heard on the Magnolia film soundtrack. With memorable tunes, acerbic lyrics and distinctively wry vocals, this album is a fine reminder of why Aimee Mann is regarded as a cut above most of her contemporaries.
