Aerosmith have become an American version of the Rolling Stones, still going strong long after the natural lifespan of a hard-living rock group. Unlike the Stones, however, Steven Tyler and co are now making some of the best records of their career. Just Push Play is packed with all the old Aerosmith hallmarks - energetic metal guitars, lyrics full of visceral imagery and Tyler's passionate, strangulated vocals. It may not be cutting edge, and it's marred by a couple of mawkish ballads, but there's an air of self-confidence and natural panache about most of this album that should keep their critics quiet for a few more years at least.
