Danny Dyer is at loggerheads with Zoo Magazine after the lads mag ended his 'Agony Uncle' column after a row erupted over advice the Brit actor gave to a reader. Dyer responded to 23-year-old Alex Woolliscroft's letter seeking relationship advice after his girlfriend has left him with a series of ill-advised recommendations, including stating that Woolliscroft should assault his ex. "You've got nothing to worry about, son. I'd suggest going out on a rampage with the boys, getting on the booze and smashing anything that moves. Then, when some bird falls for you, you can turn the tables and break her heart. Of course, the other option is to cut your ex's face, and then no one will want her", said Dyer.
Dyer has stated that he was misquoted and would never advocate violence against women. What do Zoo have to say on the matter? "We would like to make it clear that Danny was not misquoted, but that does not excuse the fact his comment appeared in print." Dyer's column has been axed and Zoo have made an unreserved apology and a sizeable donation to charity.
Seriously, how did this get out? Who thought this was a good idea? Sigh…
