Teddy Thompson - Teddy Thompson

Offspring of pop stars who try to follow in their parents' footsteps rarely have much luck - for every Jeff Buckley there's a dozen Julian Lennons or Adam Cohens. Teddy Thompson, son of folk-rock star Richard, is unlikely to buck the trend with his pleasant but ultimately unremarkable debut album. These are gentle love songs, steeped in the rich tradition of Californian guitar pop and performed with an easy country twang. It's all very professional but Teddy's voice is far weaker than his dad's, and the album suffers from a distinct lack of energy.
