Best Burrito in Dublin Named

Special Feature

23 November 2010 (Competition)

As the dust settles over the battlefield we are delighted to announce that, as voted for by Burrito-eaters, the Entertainment.ie Best Burrito in Dublin is to be had at Pablo Picanté over on Baggot Street. Pablo beat Boojum of the Millennium Walkway by the narrowest of margins.

In a final week of fierce voting that would make The Alamo look like a schoolyard tiff, the top two restaurants finished head and sombrero above the competition. Colm McNamara who runs Pablo Picanté said "After putting in the hard work, it is just wonderful to get recognition that we serve the best burrito in Dublin". Just over the Liffey at close rival Boojum, their chief burrito maker John took the defeat well and added, "It was great fun and fair play to Pablo – but it was very close. We'll see who wins next year!"

The burrito is fast becoming a most popular lunchtime meal. It's delicious, very filling and easy to take back to the office. It is interesting to note that burritos are not necessarily a purely Mexican dish and many cuisines including Thai and Korean burritos are proving a hit in the States at the moment. Beef, chicken or pure vegetarian with salsa, rice, refried beans, coriander, sour cream and guacamole - the Mexican version is hard to beat.

Part of the competition was that, when voting, customers would give us a burrito slogan and the best slogan would win a holiday voucher for €500 and 10 delicious burritos. We are happy to announce that the winner is Aaron McGrattan with the winning slogan "I love burritos because...they are little parcels of delicious awesomeness".

We have added a special runner up prize because we loved the following and although it didn't win we couldn't let it go unrewarded! Runner Up: €200 holiday voucher to Brendan Reilly for his slogan " I love burritos because... they're spicy, tasty little beef sleeping bags of yummy goodness".

Julian Douglas of Entertainment.ie, a noted burrito aficionado said, "These burrito boys fight tough. But it was great fun and I'm delighted with the response that we got not only from the restaurants but the amazing response from their customers." Will Pablo win again next year? As Pancho Villa himself said, "A year is a long time in burritos".
