With so many big names on this year's Electric Picnic bill, it's easy to allow the homegrown talent to fall through the cracks of your schedule when you're planning your day out.

And yes, although you should certainly not miss some of the headline acts – they're (usually) headliners for a reason, after all – you might also come across your new favourite band (who you'll also potentially get to see play live a lot more often).

As such, we've put together a list of ten Irish acts that you should definitely not miss this weekend.

1. CATHY DAVEY (Friday, midnight, The Hazel Wood)

Along with overseeing the My Lovely Horse Ranch stage/area at Electric Picnic – as she has done for the last few years, and which will see lots of fun stuff including a 'Rubbish Song for Europe' contest that will appease Father Ted fans – Cathy Davey returns to the world of music this year, too. She releases her excellent new album 'New Forest' on September 2nd, and will debut it live at the Hazel Wood stage on Friday at midnight.

2. BRIAN DEADY (Saturday, 2.45pm, Rankin's Wood Stage)

We reckon that if Brian Deady had released his album 'Non Fiction' in early 2016, instead of December 2015 when it was lost in the Christmas rush, it would have registered on a lot more peoples' radars. In any event, it's a superb soul record from the Corkman capable of swoonsome ballads, finger-clicking tunes and deep grooves – make sure you don't miss his brilliant live show.

3. BELL X1 (Saturday, 8.30pm, Main Stage)

They're one of Ireland's biggest bands and they always know how to tailor their setlists to please their audience. Bell X1 release new album 'Arms' in October, but you can expect plenty of old favourites to keep the audience on their toes and in full voice.

4. AINE CAHILL (Saturday, 1.30pm, Little Big Tent)

This time last year, this young Cavan woman had won a lot at Electric Picnic via 2FM's 'Play the Picnic' competition. This year, she's got a performance at Glastonbury under her belt (as well as a primetime studio slot on BBC at that festival) and is well on her way to greatness. If you like swoonsome Lana Del Rey style ballads mixed with a sense of rambunctious pop, make sure you check her out.

5. WYVERN LINGO (Saturday, 3.15pm, Electric Arena)

This Bray trio are purveyors of beautiful alternative pop with a hearty dash of folk and an occasional smidge of electronics, using their three-part harmonies to stunning effect on songs like the stark beauty of 'Used' and the dark, shady groove of 'Subside'. You have to see them live to get the full effect of their brilliance, so make it your business to do so. You have been warned.

6. REJJIE SNOW (Saturday, 5pm, Rankin's Wood Stage)

This 20-year-old Dublin rapper has already supported Madonna – yes, actual Madonna – on several dates of her European tour last year and he has clocked up millions of YouTube views, too. He's yet to release his debut full-length album, but suffice to say he could be huge. He's got an interesting backstory, too - including dropping out of a soccer scholarship in the States to return to Ireland and pursue his first love, music. Intrigued? Pop along to see him, so.

7. LYNCHED (Sunday, 9.40pm, Other Voices)

If you like your Irish trad with a bit of a modern twist, you'd do worse than to check out this fantastic Dublin quartet, who blend the best of old storytelling with a punky folk attitude and some brilliant multi-part harmonies. Their rousing live performance in the environs of EP could prove very special, indeed.

8. SAINT SISTER (Sunday, 4.45pm, Little Big Tent)

If you're nursing a hangover at any stage over the weekend, make sure you try to catch this duo – because their soothing, atmospheric electro-folk will prove just the ticket for throbbing heads. They're barely together two years, but their enchanting sound is seriously accomplished.

**

9. FANGCLUB (Saturday, 7.15pm, Other Voices)

Another bunch of new kids on the block, this Dublin trio – who recently signed to Universal Ireland - get straight to the point with their grungey alt-rock/pop tunes, best heard on striking, stealthy new single 'Loner', a track that brazenly nods to Nirvana. No better way to blast away the cobwebs.

**

10. HARE SQUEAD (Saturday, 4.30pm, Little Big Tent)

If you're into your homegrown commercial hip-hop, make sure you check out these guys – who are being touted as Ireland's next big musical stars. The Dublin trio signed a major label deal with Columbia Records at the start of this year and are expected to do great things, as their recent buzzy, slick electro single 'If I Ask' attests to.
