This tale of marital infidelity, from the cheating wife's point of view, finds said wife, Diane Lane, in one of the finest performances of her career. Unsurprisingly, Richard Gere does the preening Alpha male thing to perfection, but Lane's note-perfect role offers an intelligent, unsentimental take on the guilty thrills routine.
