The Phantom of the Opera

The beautifully detailed baroque backdrop is the real star of this misfiring adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical. The lack of chemistry between the leads, not to mention their grating singing voices, results in a long slog for those who aren't committed fans, although Minnie Driver turns in a hilariously bitchy cameo as a deposed diva.
