Shimizu directs a Hollywood remake of his Japanese original, a slice of spooky hokum in which a primal force takes its revenge on the unwitting inhabitants of a haunted house. An intriguing prospect, in that the poltergeist-type thingy utilises technology to do its worst, although the story peters out in the last third.
