The 40 Year-Old Virgin
Meet Andy. He's a nice, clean living guy, cycles to his job in an electrical goods store, collects action figures and has never gotten laid. One poker game with the lads at work later and, after some stereotypical guy talk, it is obvious to his co-workers that Andy is a. . . Gasp! Shock! Horror! . . . VIRGIN! Cue the lads going on a cherry popping mission. They begin by focusing on a drunken hen party and some chest-hair waxing (FYI: Steve Carell, poor bugger, is actually being waxed in this scene). However, Andy is too busy falling in love with divorced mother of three, Trish (Keener). Solid 3 star entertainment, The 40 Year-Old Virgin is, surprisingly, a rather enjoyable no-brainer bit of comedy. Steering clear (mostly) of dumb/gross humour, and obligatory lamo ending aside - albeit with an interesting musical twist - the cast and crew manage to provide enough laughs to keep even the most stoic of us amused. Though if you are in a vulnerable place regarding your relationship status, perhaps this isn't for you. The rest of you insensitive souls prepare to be amused, but in a minor and forgettable way.
