A charming tale of boy (Maguire) meets genetically modified spider and turns into a web-spinning superhero at first bite. Silliness abounds, not least when Willem Dafoe starts capering around as the Green Goblin, but if you're a fan of the comics you'll probably get a bang out of the FX-generated thrills 'n' spills.
