Recess: School's Out

Amiable if uninspiring cartoon fare in which T.J. Detweiler (voiced by Lawrence) and his mates continue their good natured battle with their teachers - even into the summer recess. The reason for the extension of hostilities is due to the plans of the nefarious secretary of education to eliminate summer vacation forever. So, it's left up to T.J. and pals to try and save America's kids from year-round schooling.

After the huge technological leaps made by the likes of Shrek and the forthcoming Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, the traditional animation style employed by the makers of Recess: School's Out appears positively pedestrian. On the plus side, the scattergun collection of characters, zippy, silly plot and one-liners works reasonably well. Just don't go along expecting another Shrek.
