Frothy nonsense in which teenage Ella (Hathaway) must seek out the fairy godmother who cast a spell of obedience, forcing Ella to obey everyone's wishes. Elves, giants and Prince Charmings all figure in a sweetly-intentioned fairytale romp, with Eric Idle's narrator winning over the more cynical in the audience.
