An excruciatingly hip documentary about the development of the skateboarding scene in West LA in the late '70s, this is directed by an alumnus, so authenticity is ensured. The soundtrack is contemporary hip-hop, the editing matches the source-'n'-scratch vitality of the music, and Sean Penn delivers a wry, understated narration. Well worth checking out.
