Dirty Pretty Things

That most magnificently eclectic of directors, Stephen Frears, is at it again, blending political drama, straightforward thriller and even a downbeat romance to produce a hard-hitting film about the travails of a group of immigrants trying to establish themselves in London. The cast respond well to a strong script, conveying the desperation that goes with exile and alienation.
