An adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's Vile Bodies, Stephen Fry's amiable directorial debut concerns itself with Adam, a man-about-town in pre-WWII London who finds himself torn between the endless rounds of parties and his desire to settle down and marry. Period detail and performances are good, but the story peters out long before the end.
