The conversations in question are about luck/chance/choices/irreversible outcomes or, if you prefer, the possibility of life having any meaning. Not as heavy as one may think, 13 Conversations is a thoughtful, though unprovocative, piece on cause and effect. Here an ensemble of flawed characters' stories are juxtaposed and sometimes entwine, making for an intriguing thesis and anti-thesis on individual's opinions and beliefs. The static setting is in direct conflict with the fluid premise but ultimately compliments the unnecessary emptiness of modern life. Arkin and McConaughey are particularly excellent.
