It's Jo And Danny - But We Have The Music

Anyone who thinks that the flower power generation is dead and gone should take a good listen to the new album from Jo Bartlett and Danny Hagan, two unreconstructed hippies whose mindset is still firmly fixed in 1967. Thankfully, when it comes to their music, they're fully alive to the possibilities of 2003. From their mountain retreat in deepest Wales they make what's best described as folk music for clubbers, embellishing their sweet, summery guitar songs with spiky electronica and quirky beats. So while the Mother Earth philosophy will draw in any old Donovan or Incredible String Band fans still knocking around, 24-hour party people will also find this a more than acceptable chillout soundtrack. True, anyone in between will find it all hopelessly twee and self-indulgent - but then, insults like that never bothered hippies before and they're not likely to bother them now.
