When you hear that Hollywood is set to remake one of Britain's most successful comedy TV shows - Only Fools and Horses - you instantly think it will suck. (Well maybe that's just me.) How will something so quintessentially British transfer to an American audience? Well, just take a look at how successful The Office was. Come to think of it, I actually preferred the US version.

Just announced today, it appears that the ABC network will remake the Peckham-set comedy for American audiences. Helmed by the team behind Scrubs, Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley, a pilot episode is already in the pipeline. The plot, surprise surprise, will chronicle "the misadventures of two streetwise brothers and their aging grandfather as they concoct outrageous, morally questionable get-rich-quick schemes in a bid to become millionaires".

It will come 30 years after the classic first aired on the BBC, which attracted millions of devoted fans but will it have the same impact in America?

Now I'm not too sure exactly who'll step into Del Boy's shoes, never mind who'll play Rodders or Grandad - this has yet to be confirmed - but rumour has it that it may well be Steve Carell.

Speaking of Only Fools and Horses in 2010 Carell said: "That is my dream role... The British do sitcoms better than anybody else in the world. I think with the right scriptwriters and cast we could do Only Fools And Horses justice. If anybody wants to help me do a remake I'd love it."

He also said that he'd quite fancy having Wedding Crashers' star Vince Vaughn play Boycie, Ben Stiller play Grandad and comedy stalwart Paul Rudd to play Rodney.

Well, with a cast like that it could well be lovely jubbly.
